History | Print |

Eierenglorie Vermeulen (EGV) has more than 250 years experience in the egg trade. The company has arisen in 1997, from a fusion between Eierenglorie and egg trade Vermeulen. In the year 2001 egg trade Bakker from Sneek has been added to the venture. These three companies have joined their knowledge and expertise in a young and dynamic company.

Eierenglorie Castricum

www.opa glorie.jpgEierenglorie has the longest history of the three egg traders. It started all in 1896, with a service chop on the main road at Castricum. At a brisk pace the focus was laid at the egg trade, the company grew because of large demands from IJmuiden and other neighbourhood villages. The activities at the North-sea-canal caused a large demand on eggs. Eggs were a cheap alternative for flesh, which the English workers could not afford. Under the guidance of Nic Glorie the company established itself in the school street where the company got the name Eierenglorie. At age 50 Nic perished of the effects of a heart attack. As a result of which his sons had to take over the company. Nico and Hein Glorie have made Eierenglorie great, starting in the year 1976. In 1997 Eierenglorie moved to Beverwijk where they continued the business with egg trade Vermeulen from Uitgeest.

Egg trade Vermeulen Uitgeest

www.de broers vermeulen.jpgJan Vermeulen Sr. has started the business in 1926, by selling eggs in Uitgeest. Jan Sr. died at age 51 and his sons, on their youthful age of 16 and 18 years old, took over the firm. The eggs were bought at bird holders in the province of Noord-Holland and at the market in Barneveld. The consumers were then in general bakers, milk traders and grocers. In course of time grocers, bakers and milk traders disappeared and were replaced by supermarkets. In the nineties the large scale companies strike in the egg trade. The firm Vermeulen joined forces with Eierenglorie to safeguard the future. The house colour yellow of Vermeulen is still used in the logo today.

Egg trade BaKker Sneek

www.bakker3.jpgEgg trade Bakker has been set up in 1933 in Sneek by Willem Bakker Sr. as wholesale trade in eggs, poultry and feed grains. In 1961, only eggs were sold by the two sons of the founder, which took over the company. Several times the company moved to a larger location. In 1992 Willem Jan Bakker, the grandson of Willem, also came in the company. In Sneek there also was a need to merge with other companies, as a result of which, in 2001 a fusion with EGV took place.
